FULLERTON, Calif. - Californer -- Art and Creativity for Healing honors Dr. Dallas Stout with their 20th Anniversary Award.
In bestowing the award, Laurie Zagon, Founder and Executive Director of Art and Creativity for Healing said "Thank you so much for being instrumental in the success of our nonprofit in our first 5 years. You were there supporting us during some of the most difficult and challenging times. You helped us reach troubled kids that were instrumental in igniting a passion in me personally. Watching you work with the teens at Phoenix Academy, to this day, is one of my most inspirational memories. Your help in writing the introduction to my book, referring agencies to us, and nominations for awards; you have been a true champion of our cause. We could not have become a major catalyst for healing and creative expression in the lives of over 85,000 children, teens, and adults without your help in those first years. Please accept this award as a small token of my gratitude".

Dr. Stout responded: "I'm not sure I could find the words to fully express what really happened in my facility when we allowed Laurie to start conducting their new workshops there. For those that were there, we really don't need words, we saw it. Even now, years later, I am contacted by the former youth who went thru those classes and are still talking about it. Plainly said, Art4Healing® workshops change lives. You have a brush in your hand and you're applying colors to a canvas. At the same time, you are releasing things, expressing things, getting in touch with things and perhaps doing work that was long overdue. That was certainly the case with my kids in those early programs. I am humbled and honored to be standing here 20 years later accepting this beautiful, colorful award."
Dr. Dallas Stout is a member of the faculty at California State University Fullerton, Ashford University and Brigham Young University, Idaho where he teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in Psychology as well as Non-Profit Principles and Practices. He uses his experience to assist a variety of non-profit programs in Southern California thru DoctorS Consulting which he co-founded in 2004.
