NEW YORK - Californer -- The Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA) will host its Virtual Conference and Fifty-Fifth Anniversary Celebration September 5–6, 2025. This special two-day event will focus on the theme, "Strong Stories, Stronger Community: Celebrating 55 Years of Editorial Excellence."
This year's conference marks more than half a century of service to the freelance editorial community, providing resources, education, and support to professionals in publishing and related fields.
"We work hard to cultivate a vibrant community of freelance editorial professionals," said Autumn Arnett, executive director of the EFA. "This conference honors decades of editorial excellence, from the earliest days of the organization to our most recent initiatives."
The virtual conference will feature keynote speakers, interactive sessions, and robust networking opportunities, with programming organized into two main tracks:

Editorial Know-How Track: Sessions led by experienced editors will explore best practices, tools, and techniques for strengthening editorial skills across disciplines.
Business Track: Presentations will offer guidance on key aspects of freelancing, including pricing, client communication, contracts, marketing, and long-term financial planning.
The registration fee is $120 for EFA members and $165 for nonmembers. Register and get up-to-date information about sessions at the-efa.org/conference.
Sponsorship Opportunities
The EFA welcomes sponsors interested in promoting their services to a targeted and engaged community of editorial professionals. The conference will be hosted on an interactive virtual platform designed to replicate the spontaneity of in-person events. Attendees will have access to virtual meetups, networking games, and informal "hallway" chats to foster connection and collaboration.

Founded in 1970, the Editorial Freelancers Association is a national nonprofit professional organization with more than 3,000 members, including editors, writers, proofreaders, indexers, translators, and others working in publishing and communications.
