Governor Newsom Statement on Migrant Arrivals in California

SACRAMENTO ~ Governor Gavin Newsom of California met with over a dozen migrants in Sacramento today. The migrants had been transported from Texas to New Mexico before being flown by private chartered jet to Sacramento and dropped off at a local church without warning. Newsom is working with the Mayor's office, local and nonprofit partners to ensure the migrants are treated with respect and dignity, and get to their intended destination as they pursue their immigration cases. The California Department of Justice is also investigating who paid for the group's travel and whether any criminal laws, including kidnapping, were violated.
