LOS ANGELES - Californer -- On Sunday, February 25, Rev. Dr. Ken J. Walden will deliver his last sermon as senior pastor of Holman United Methodist Church.
Walden has led the congregation for nearly four years, keeping the church afloat as churches throughout the United States permanently closed during COVID. During his time at Holman, he solidified partnerships with neighboring faith organizations, such as the Office of Religious Life at USC and the environmental advocacy group STAND-L.A. On Walden's watch, the church made a smooth transition from virtual to in-person worship but kept its YouTube worship high. Subscriptions increased from 65 to roughly 700.
On March 1, Walden returns to his academic roots as a teaching administrator at historically Black Hampton University. Walden's last sermon, titled "It Depends on Faith," is based on Romans 4:13-25. He'll preach at 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
