Recognizing growing diversity and excellence in soap operas and telenovelas worldwide, the virtual ceremony adds two new categories.
SAN FRANCISCO - Californer -- .A Hot Set announces new category additions "Best TV Series Actor - Soap/Telenovela" and "Best TV Series Actress - Soap/Telenovela" for the 4th annual AHS Awards, set for 2026. Building on the growing influence and diversity within the soap opera genre worldwide, the awards will now include expanded recognition for scripted TV series, specifically soap operas and telenovelas.
Fueled in part by the debut of Beyond the Gates—the first daytime soap opera created and executive produced by African Americans—and the increasing representation of people of color in soap operas in Western nations such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. In addition to the prominence of the genre in South Africa, Latin America, the Philippines, and beyond.

These additions aim to honor outstanding performances and productions in multi-episode weekly soap operas and telenovelas that provide their actors and actresses with juicy front-burner material that drives the story.
Given the amount of new material that actors and actresses film, their ability to churn out dramatic and gutwrenching performances daily makes them some of the hardest-working thespians in show business. Through the AHS Awards, A Hot Set aims to honor their work in a genre that was created in 1930 via radio and later transitioned to television in 1949, where it remains today.
More details on the upcoming 4th edition of the AHS Awards and the nomination process will be revealed as the event approaches in 2026.
