SANTA ROSA, Calif. - Californer -- Calvary Chapel The Rock in Santa Rosa mourns the passing and celebrates the life of Pastor Ross Reinman, who peacefully delivered his final sermon on January 5, 2025, exactly 22 years after first addressing a congregation in Sebastopol. Pastor Ross leaves an enduring legacy of faith, compassion, and service deeply felt throughout Sonoma County and beyond.

Born July 25, 1959, in Huntington, New York, Ross was shaped by his Jewish father's traditions and Sicilian Catholic mother's warmth. The family's move to California marked a pivotal spiritual turning point. Ross's father experienced a spiritual awakening after reading Hal Lindsey's "The Late Great Planet Earth," profoundly influencing Ross. Soon afterward, Ross clearly heard God's voice calling him into lifelong ministry during an encounter in a disco nightclub.

Following this calling, Ross attended Bethany Bible College, where he met Barb, who became his wife and ministry partner. Their shared mission took them around the world. In Japan, Ross creatively taught English through biblical lessons, uniquely blending education with evangelism. In San Francisco's Mission District, he actively ministered to diverse communities, planting seeds of faith and compassion.

Ross bravely overcame Hodgkin's lymphoma, enduring challenging treatments and a bone marrow transplant. In gratitude for restored health, Ross founded Calvary Chapel Sebastopol in 2003, which grew into Calvary Chapel The Rock in Santa Rosa. His sermons reflected profound theological insight and practical guidance, shaped by meticulous preparation and heartfelt care.

Under Pastor Ross's leadership, Calvary Chapel The Rock became essential during local crises, notably the devastating 2017 Santa Rosa fires. The church immediately provided shelter, food, and spiritual care for displaced families. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ross maintained open church doors, offering consistent community support, prayer, and fellowship.

Ross's vision also reached beyond local boundaries, inspiring missionary outreach in Israel, India, Peru, Nepal, and Jordan. Locally, Calvary Chapel The Rock consistently supported food distribution, shelter coordination, and vital community services, reflecting Ross's vision of a compassionate and active church.
