LOS ANGELES - Californer -- he accounting industry is the backbone of financial stability and growth for businesses and individuals alike. Building a successful career in this field requires technical expertise, ethical standards, and strategic thinking. As a part of this series, I had the distinct pleasure of interviewing Mackenzie Morey.
Mackenzie Morey, currently a Client Success Manager at Smartfinancial, who previously worked for Farmers insurance. She is dedicated to helping people achieve their highest potential and prides herself on her ability to dig into a problem and find creative long-term solutions. She lives with her boyfriend and three cats in California.
Thank you so much for your time! I know that you are a very busy person. Can you tell us a story about what brought you to this specific career path?
It's funny how so many people in the insurance industry are in it because their family members are, too. My dad sold insurance in his 20s, my aunt owns her own brokerage and my mom is a service manager for a company out in Virginia, so I was always destined to work in insurance. I started temping at my aunt's insurance agency when I was 16 years old and went on to work for Farmers Insurance. I eventually transitioned to working with insurance agents on the leads side.

Can you share the most interesting story that happened to you since you began at your company?
I think the most interesting, and the most fulfilling, experience at SmartFinancial so far has been the evolution of my relationship with Cameron, one of my Allstate agents in Florida. He got appointed to his agency the same week I started working for Smartfinancial, and we were fast friends. I was new to working at an insurance lead company while he was learning the other side. We've worked closely together on his lead campaigns ever since, and we talk a lot about long-term goals. We've been able to grow together quickly in our respective roles, and it's been so rewarding to watch his agency grow: He now has six producers and is crushing the sales game!
Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting?
To hear Mackenzie's hilarious response and more about what she does to help agents make sales, read the full article here in Medium magazine: https://medium.com/authority-magazine/mackenzie-morey-of-smartfinancial-on-five-things-you-need-to-create-a-highly-successful-career-in-69074f990cd5
