Sailing equipment company expands beyond gloves with innovative hardware designed for modern sailors
LOS ANGELES - Californer -- Marine Gear, a trusted provider of high-performance sailing equipment designed by sailors for sailors, today announced the launch of its new 3.5-inch Soft Shackle Set, expanding the company's product line beyond sailing gloves into innovative marine rigging solutions.
Designed specifically for sailboats and small craft, Marine Gear Soft Shackles provide a lightweight, corrosion-free alternative to traditional metal shackles. Made from high-modulus UHMWPE synthetic fiber, these soft shackles deliver exceptional strength while eliminating common issues associated with stainless steel hardware, including corrosion, deck damage, unnecessary weight, and metal-on-metal noise.
Each Marine Gear Soft Shackle features a 3,500-pound safe working load rating and weighs only 16 grams, providing sailors with a strong, lightweight connection solution. The flexible 3.5-inch loop design allows quick, tool-free attachment for a variety of marine applications, including connecting blocks, attaching sheets and control lines, securing gear, and creating soft attachment points.

"Marine Gear was founded to solve real problems sailors experience on the water," said Mark Wilson, Founder of Marine Gear. "After developing sailing gloves focused on comfort, protection, and performance, we wanted to bring the same sailor-first approach to other areas of marine equipment. Soft shackles are a simple but meaningful innovation that improves the sailing experience by reducing weight, protecting equipment, and making onboard connections easier."
Unlike traditional metal shackles, Marine Gear Soft Shackles are designed to protect boat surfaces and hardware. Their soft construction helps prevent scratches to gelcoat, damage to spars, and unnecessary noise while underway. The UHMWPE synthetic fiber construction provides excellent strength-to-weight performance, low water absorption, and durability in demanding marine environments.
The Marine Gear Soft Shackle Set includes two grey 3.5-inch soft shackles and is ideal for sailboats, dinghies, coastal cruisers, kayaks, paddle craft, and general marine rigging applications where lightweight, reliable connections are preferred.
