Budget-friendly software networking is key to solving network upgrade challenges for growing Germany-based fiber services provider
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Californer -- netElastic, a leading innovator in software solutions for broadband, today announced that rapidly growing Germany-based ISP MUENET has successfully scaled its capacity to serve 40,000 subscribers in Germany with a growth plan towards 50,000 with netElastic software. MUENET has already connected over 30,000 households in Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Rhineland-Palatinate to its fiber optic network in support of its "Well Connected" motto that has been in effect since its founding in 1996.
Facing challenges with previous Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) and Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CGNAT) solutions from MikroTik, MUENET transitioned to netElastic's integrated networking platform featuring virtual BNG (vBNG), CGNAT and netVision monitoring application. The decision to transition to netElastic was reached when it became clear that MUENET wanted to open a second data center location to ensure geographical redundancy. Prior to netElastic, this would have required MUENET to double the already very large number of systems, which would also have doubled operational overhead and costs.

The netElastic deployment has delivered exceptional results for MUENET to leverage software on standard servers and make the jump to higher performance. netElastic saves MUENET roughly 83% on hardware and licensing costs compared to alternatives such as Juniper. Running on standard x86 HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 Plus servers with Intel Xeon Gold and 100G NICs, the 200G networking software platform delivers routing, subscriber management and CGNAT with centralized GUI-based management, providing a scalable and reliable foundation, especially during peak times and with ever-increasing customer bandwidth.
netElastic's networking software platform allows MUENET to simply add licenses without forklift upgrades or service interruptions to scale towards its 50,000-customer goal. MUENET runs the netElastic software bare metal for efficiency with one integrated server for BNG, CGNAT and an easy-to-use GUI.
Laslo Müther, Managing Director of MUENET said, "The simplicity in netElastic's licensing and support really spoke to the engineering side of our business. The cost really spoke to the finance side of our business." When advising the industry on network upgrades, he continued, "Don't wait too long. If you're installing your third legacy system for termination and/or CGNAT, it's time to look for another solution like we found with netElastic."

Weixiao Liu, CEO of netElastic, said, "Network upgrades shouldn't be a money spending contest. netElastic software on any commodity hardware realizes the benefits of multiple hardware vendors for competitive costing and more importantly, ease-of-use and availability."
