LOS ANGELES, April 17, 2025 ~ Kingsley Manor Retirement Community in Los Angeles is gearing up for its highly anticipated second annual fashion show, set to take place on Thursday, April 24 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The event promises to be an exciting evening, showcasing the unique beauty and personalities of 10 residents ranging in age from 72 to 105.
Residents and guests alike can look forward to a night of glamour and style as the community's residents take to the runway. Free tickets for the event are available online, but with limited space, interested individuals are encouraged to secure their spot early.
In preparation for their moment in the spotlight, the residents have been receiving coaching from a professional runway coach who has previously worked with renowned model Tyra Banks. They will also be styled by students from the Fashion Institute and professional hair and makeup artists. Each resident will showcase three different looks - one from their own wardrobe, one created by two local boutiques who have generously volunteered to participate in the event, and a special "Black Tie Affairs" segment that explores how they may have dressed when they were younger.

The fashion show will be hosted by none other than Olivia Acevedo, Miss America Los Angeles and a dancer for the L.A. Kings. Along with the runway show, guests can enjoy delicious hors d'oeuvres and live music from the Karl Marsh Jazz Ensemble.
According to Michael Essex, life enrichment director at Kingsley Manor, this fashion show was started in 2024 as a way to celebrate confidence and empowerment among their residents. He believes it provides a transformative experience for them as they often face limited opportunities to access such resources.
Executive Director Liyon O'Quinn shares his excitement about how this event has evolved over the years. "What we just thought was going to be a regular event at the Manor has turned into something that none of us could have imagined," he says.
