Refreshed Pirate look rolls out this fall across uniforms, facilities, and team apparel
VENTURA, Calif. - Californer -- Ventura College Athletics has unveiled a new visual identity and spirit logo, bringing a bold, unified look to all the teams and programs that make up Pirate Athletics. Developed through a collaborative process involving student athletes, athletics staff, college leadership, and key stakeholders, this refreshed look honors the past while making way for the future with a modern, unmistakably Pirate brand.
"Our athletics tradition is an important part of the Ventura College story, and this new identity honors that history while giving our student-athletes, coaches and supporters a renewed sense of pride and connection to the college," said Luca E. Lewis, president of Ventura College. "It reflects who we are today and the direction we are headed—grounded in tradition, connected to our community and committed to a future of continued excellence. This is a meaningful expression of our enduring legacy and our vision for the future."

Designed by Dylan Winters of Dylan Winters Design Co., the primary mark is an interlocking VC monogram inspired by the bow of a pirate ship and a breaking wave. The secondary Pirate spirit mark features a skull in profile wearing a tricorn hat and eye patch, with bandana tails echoing the wave forms. Both marks are presented in Ventura College's orange and black.
"Through this new logo, we honor the proud history, tradition and championship legacy of Ventura College Athletics while embracing the future that lies ahead," said Ventura College Athletic Director Jimmy Walker. "This new identity gives our student-athletes, coaches and fans a symbol they can proudly rally around and carry forward for generations to come."
Beginning in August 2026, the new identity will be introduced gradually across uniforms, facilities and athletics communications. The phased approach aligns implementation with uniform replacement cycles and existing equipment lifespans, ensuring responsible use of college resources. The community will begin seeing the new look this fall across digital platforms, merchandise and select team apparel, with full integration expanding over the coming seasons.
