Our Lady of La Vang Church Project
The City of San José has prepared an Addendum to the Final Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration for the Our Lady of La Vang Church Project (C14-061, SP15-004, HP15-001) for:
Project File No. and Name: SP19-028/HP19-009 – Our Lady of La Vang Church Project
Location: The project site is located at 389 East Santa Clara Street, between North Eighth Street and North Ninth Street.
The Addendum is posted on the City's website at: www.sanjoseca.gov/negativedeclarations
Project Description: A Special Use Permit for the construction of a new church building with a bell pavilion, utility building, and expanded on-site parking on the 2.8-acre project. The proposed church and bell pavilion would total 17,660 square feet with a maximum seating capacity of approximately 1,240 occupants. The maximum height of the church will reach 47 feet above ground level. The 1,250 square foot utility building would house the restrooms, bicycle parking and a trash enclosure. The project also proposes an approximately 10,500 square foot outdoor gathering space which would consist of a courtyard/meditation area, a 27-foot tall statue. and a lawn utilized as a gathering area. The project would remove 43 existing trees and provide new landscaping. An additional 22 parking spaces will be added to the ground-level surface parking lot. Metal fencing would be located along the perimeter of the gathering and meditation areas.
