September is the Biggest Month for Birthdays

TORRANCE, Calif. - Californer -- A local retailer has won a Birthday cake from Avanti Press, Inc., a greeting card publisher who launched a nationwide contest earlier this summer. "We are so excited about winning the cake," said Hanif Thakor from Postal Annex #365 in Torrance.  The retailer will be presented with the cake – baked by Carlos' Bakery in Hoboken, NJ and featuring six layers of rainbow-colored vanilla cake filled high with a rich chocolate fudge frosting and covered with shimmer rainbow sprinkles – on Friday, September 6.

"We are giving away free cakes in September to our retailers because it is the biggest month of the year for Birthdays," says Dave Phipps, Avanti's Communications Manager. "Various sources claim that the #1 day for Birthdays in the USA is Sep 9^th or Sep 19^th. Either way, as a greeting card publisher specializing in funny Birthday cards, we thought it only fitting to celebrate all month long, and we're thrilled to be sending a cake to Postal Annex #365 in Torrance."

Postal Annex qualified for the contest by keeping the best selling Birthday cards on display and submitting a photo to the publisher, based in Detroit, Michigan. The store is located at 24325 Crenshaw Blvd. in Torrance.
