BEER, England, Dec. 9, 2024 ~ Renowned British rock legend Sir Rod Stewart has recently made headlines for his impressive HO scale model railway layout, which has been featured in the January 2025 issue of Railway Modeller magazine. The cover of the magazine proudly displays Sir Rod's expansive and meticulously detailed layout, titled "Grand Street & Three Rivers Railroad."
The layout, which spans an impressive 27 feet by 62 feet, is a true testament to Sir Rod's passion for model railways. Inspired by the bustling cityscapes and industrial grandeur of 1940s America, it has taken the singer over three decades to craft this technical marvel and artistic masterpiece.
Railway Modeller Editor Craig Tiley reflects on the impact of Sir Rod's layout, stating that his dedication and eye for detail elevate it beyond a simple hobby. It is truly a world-class exhibit that seamlessly blends artistry and technology.

In an exclusive interview with Railway Modeller, Sir Rod reveals the immense work involved in relocating the layout from his Los Angeles residence to his English country estate. He also shares his plans for enhancing the setup, including advanced lighting for day-to-night transitions, sound effects, and a computer-controlled automation system for train operations.
Sir Rod's passion for model railways is evident in every aspect of his layout. He takes great pride in creating all the scenery himself, stating that nearly all buildings are either scratch-built or adapted from kits. He also mentions future extensions to the layout, such as docks with large-scale ships and a dedicated homage to legendary model railway artist George Sellios.
Despite his busy schedule as a global music star, Sir Rod finds solace in spending up to five hours a day in his workshop working on his beloved hobby. He describes it as "entering the gates of heaven" when he walks into his workshop.
