Quarterly award recognizes outstanding acts of goodness performed by young people
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Californer -- Yours Humanly, a global nonprofit that transforms the lives of children in need around the world by providing access to quality education and equitable resources, has announced two 2021 recipients of its Children Have the Power to Empower® Award, which recognizes children for their outstanding acts of goodness that make a significant difference in the lives of others.
Nika Hirsch, 10, of Northfield, Minnesota, received the Children Have the Power to Empower® Award for the outstanding acts of goodness she performs by collecting clothing and books for children entering foster care; hosting a Giving Tree to provide free mittens, hats, and scarves to others in need of warm clothes; managing an annual 100 Kind Deeds Day, gathering friends and social media followers to perform 100 (and more) acts of service in 24 hours; and raising thousands of dollars for several nonprofits.

Riley Pryor, 12, of Edmond, Oklahoma, received the Children Have the Power to Empower® Award for the outstanding acts of goodness he performs by collecting clothing for children in need and inspiring friends and community members to join the clothing drive. This winter, Riley went door to door, collecting winter coats, sweatshirts, pants, shoes, and other cold weather items for scores of children served by Positive Tomorrows, Oklahoma City's only school that serves homeless children.
"We commend Nika and Riley for their compassion and hard work, and for being the kind of young people who think of others before self," says Yours Humanly Founder & CEO Sunny Singh. "Our Children Have the Power to Empower award recipients are making a difference in the lives of others."
