MARTINEZ, Calif. - Californer -- Alten Construction (https://www.altenconstruction.com/), a full-service San Francisco Bay Area commercial construction company, is finalizing work on Morello Park Elementary School (https://mpe.martinezusd.net/), a public school part of the Martinez Unified School District (https://martinezusd.net/).
The commercial construction company broke ground on the $18 million project in June 2024. Over the course of summer, the project was completed in three increments.
The first increment included the demolition of site structures and construction of a new parking lot, drop-off, site lighting and sidewalks. The second increment included a kitchen addition to the existing multi-purpose building, a new kindergarten and administration building, new walkway canopies, various site improvements and a new kindergarten playground. The final increment consisted of the modernization of existing classrooms and buildings, as well as existing administration, kindergarten and library buildings.

Additionally, new fire life safety systems were installed on new and existing buildings throughout the campus.
On Monday, Oct. 28, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on campus to celebrate.
Located at 1200 Morello Park Drive in Martinez, the elementary school is dedicated to providing a rigorous and comprehensive educational experience that challenges and nurtures the intellect of every student.
