Pride Month performances spotlight queer and transgender stories while inviting audiences nationwide
OAKLAND, Calif. - Californer -- As part of Pride Month celebrations in New York, Escobar will perform The Underdog Shinesat
The ONE Festival, the world's longest-running solo theatre festival. The solo performance follows a transgender protagonist navigating identity, survival, cultural expectations, and self-discovery through movement, storytelling, and theatrical transformation.
In addition, Escobar's original work Out of Sync has been selected for the 2026 Technicolor Play Festival in Chicago, a festival dedicated to uplifting trans playwrights, performers, and stories through new theatrical works that challenge, celebrate, and expand representation on stage.

opportunities to participate in audience voting and festival recognition programs.
"These festivals create space for stories that are often pushed to the margins. I'm honored to share work that reflects the complexity, resilience, and humanity of queer and transgender communities,"said Escobar.
A first-generation queer Filipino Salvadoran artist, Escobar's work explores identity, memory,
survival, cultural inheritance, and belonging through movement, storytelling, and lived experience.
Through a blend of movement, bilingual storytelling, and autobiographical inspiration, his work
seeks to amplify voices frequently underrepresented in mainstream theatre.
