CUPERTINO, Calif., July 18, 2024 ~ In a groundbreaking move, the BBC and TVU Networks joined forces to revolutionize the coverage of the 2024 UK General Election. Through their collaboration, they successfully deployed a cloud-based platform that managed an impressive 369 live feeds across the UK. This innovative approach transformed the viewing experience for millions of viewers, reaching a peak audience of 4.6 million.
The partnership between BBC and TVU Networks allowed for the integration of these live feeds into various platforms such as the BBC iPlayer and the BBC News website. Additionally, a virtual mosaic screen was set up at London Broadcasting House, providing a comprehensive view of all the live feeds in one place.
One of the key elements that made this collaboration so successful was the use of TVU Anywhere app. This app enabled custom mobile streaming kits to be sent to each voting location, eliminating the need for traditional broadcast setups and promoting environmentally friendly coverage. Furthermore, TVU Search was utilized to ingest and record hundreds of live feeds in real-time, allowing for instant management and replaying of critical election moments.
