The event is the first community workshop of fiscal year 2027 hosted by the Long Beach Energy and Environmental Services Department's Materials Management Bureau, in partnership with community-based organizations through a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grant project.
The workshops offer practical guidance on sorting materials into trash, organics and recycling carts. Participants also learn how proper sorting can reduce contamination and support the city's waste-diversion efforts.
The EPA grant supports a multilingual outreach campaign on cart use, waste reduction and recycling. Long Beach was one of 25 applicants nationwide selected through a competitive process.
Residents can register and find additional workshop dates at lbcity.info/Workshops27. The city's monthly newsletter, available at lbcity.info/ecoguide, also provides updates on upcoming workshops.
