~ SACRAMENTO - The state of California is mourning the loss of renowned director, writer, and activist Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner. Governor Gavin Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom issued a statement today expressing their heartbreak over the tragic news.
"Jen and I are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner," the statement read.
Rob Reiner was known for his big-heartedness and his genius in creating classic stories such as "The Princess Bride" and "A Few Good Men." His boundless empathy was evident in his work, teaching generations to see goodness and righteousness in others and inspiring them to dream bigger.
But his empathy extended beyond his films. Reiner was a passionate advocate for children and civil rights, taking on issues such as Big Tobacco, fighting for marriage equality, and using his voice to promote early education. He made California a better place through his good works.
