~ Sacramento, California - As the state of California braces for dangerous fire weather conditions, Governor Gavin Newsom has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety of its residents. The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) has approved the predeployment of 23 fire engines, eight water tenders, two dispatchers, and six support personnel to El Dorado, Nevada, Plumas, Sierra, and Trinity counties.

This decision comes in addition to the resources that were predeployed last month in response to elevated heat and critical fire weather conditions. A total of 78 fire engines, 20 water tenders, nine bulldozers, five helicopters, 10 hand crews, 16 dispatchers, and two Incident Management Teams were approved for predeployment to 13 counties including Inyo, Kern, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Sierra, Nevada, Plumas, Placer Calaveras and Trinity counties.

The predeployment program is a crucial part of California's wildfire response strategy as it ensures that resources are readily available to respond quickly in case of new fires. This proactive approach has proven to be effective in reducing response times and containing fires before they escalate into major incidents.

Local fire agencies play a vital role in identifying when additional resources are needed and submit requests to the state for support. The staging locations and response assignments are then coordinated by local officials.

Governor Newsom's decision to predeploy firefighting resources is a testament to his commitment towards protecting the lives and properties of Californians. This move also highlights the importance of being prepared for potential emergencies. Residents are urged to stay vigilant during this heightened heat and fire weather period by preparing a wildfire action plan which includes evacuation routes and packing a go-bag with essentials.

In addition to this predeployment program, California's Fire and Rescue Mutual Aid System remains available for emergency response support throughout the state where resources are needed. This system has been instrumental in providing support during past emergencies and will continue to play a crucial role in the state's emergency response efforts.

In other news, Governor Newsom has secured a federal court victory as a court ruled that President Trump's use of the National Guard in Los Angeles is illegal. This is yet another rebuke of Trump's actions and a win for California.

On a positive note, California continues to lead as the top state for workers and economy in the nation. With its economy surpassing Japan earlier this year, California remains a dominant force in the global market.

Acting Governor Eleni Kounalakis has also proclaimed September 1, 2025 as Labor Day, recognizing and thanking all the working people who contribute to the state's success.

As we celebrate Labor Day, let us also remember to stay safe and be prepared for any potential emergencies. Together, we can overcome any challenges that come our way.
