~ Tomorrow marks the six-month anniversary of the devastating firestorms that ravaged Los Angeles County. In recognition of this milestone, Governor Gavin Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom will be joined by federal, state, and local leaders to assess the progress made in rebuilding and restoring the affected communities.
The event, which will take place on Monday, July 7 at approximately 11:45 a.m., will be livestreamed on the Governor's Twitter page, Facebook page, and YouTube page. TV stations can also access the event through LiveU Matrix under "California Governor."
This in-person press event is open to credentialed media only. Those interested in attending must RSVP by clicking here no later than 10 a.m. on July 7. Location information will be provided upon confirmation.
Governor Newsom has been actively involved in addressing the aftermath of the firestorms since they first broke out on January 6. He has worked closely with federal, state, and local leaders to provide aid and support to those affected by the disaster.

In addition to recognizing the progress made in rebuilding and restoring communities, Governor Newsom will also use this opportunity to highlight recent news from Sacramento. On July 4, he issued a proclamation declaring Independence Day as a day of celebration for Californians. The following day, he signed legislation aimed at strengthening California's commitment to film and television production.
As Californians gear up for Fourth of July celebrations this weekend, safety remains a top priority. The state is taking steps to ensure that communities are prepared for festivities by increasing outreach and highlighting available resources.
As we reflect on the past six months since the Los Angeles firestorms, it is important to recognize both the devastation caused by this disaster and the resilience shown by those affected. Tomorrow's event serves as a reminder of both these aspects as well as a testament to the progress made towards rebuilding and restoring these communities.
