LOS ANGELES - Californer -- Electro/pop duo CHAMIE's newest single "Friends Like Us" dropped today, July 23rd, on all music platforms. Starting with sparse handclaps and snaps gives the song a minimalist feel, when a lone electric guitar enters. Followed by a cutting synth and distorted female vocals, the song drives forward to the chorus, where a percussive rhythm and a grooving bass line emerge. "Friends like us are everything, me and you," Jes Marie states confidently. "Friends like us, are for a lifetime."
The Los Angeles based duo, comprised of Jes Marie and Joe Sobalo Jr, wanted to create a song about love for your best friends. As they are not only a husband and wife songwriting team, but also are truly best friends, their relationship inspired them to create this song. Both members of CHAMIE also have an affinity for aliens, which led them to write their favorite lyric of the track, "What if it's a UFO, if the spaceship takes you, yeah, I'll go." Jes says, "If one of us was taken by an alien craft, the other one really WOULD want to go with the other. And that's what true best friends are - someone who always has your back, who would put your needs before their own. A real ride or die."

Joe agrees, saying, "Yep. And we wrote a song called "Ride or Die," as well talking about this. Haha. But seriously, I will always have her back, and she will always have mine, which is what a real friendship is. And I think about my best friends from growing up in Boston and they are STILL my best friends to this day. And it's because we not only have great, fun times together but we also support each other and help each other out. I will be friends with those people for the rest of my life."
