Redding Rodeo Association Auxiliary volunteers raise $10K for charitable foundation serving cancer patients
REDDING, Calif. - Californer -- The 76th annual Redding Rodeo remains months away, but a group of rodeo volunteers recently stepped up with a five-figure donation to help provide financial assistance and other support to local cancer patients.
Chicks N Chaps Redding, an affiliate of the Redding Rodeo Association Auxiliary, is a local group that helps raise money for cancer patients while also promoting the sport of rodeo. The group recently presented a $10,000 donation to Partners in Care, a not-for-profit charitable foundation that serves patients in 18 states and has expanded its efforts to the Shasta Cascade region.
"Local support is absolutely critical to our efforts — and Chicks N Chaps Redding has stepped up in a huge way on behalf of cancer patients in northern California," said Kathy Tolentino, the foundation's director.

Spring 2023 saw the debut of the inaugural Partners in Care 5K/2-Mile Walk in Redding, raising thousands of dollars in additional support for local cancer patients. Race organizers expect to soon announce the event's 2024 date.
The Redding race is part of the charitable foundation's spring season of running events nationwide, with additional benefits planned in Colorado, Florida, North and South Carolina, Washington and West Virginia.
The race series was started 11 years ago to bring awareness to head and neck cancers and raise money for those unable to afford costly associated recovery therapies that often aren't covered by insurance, or which require a very high copay.
Funds raised benefit the nonprofit Partners in Care Foundation. They will be used to provide financial assistance to head and neck cancer patients and to provide cancer screenings and treatment in the Shasta Cascade region.
