CHLA Hospitality Foundation Awards $170,000 to 97 Hospitality Students

SACRAMENTO, Calif., July 23, 2025 ~ In a recent announcement, the California Hotel & Lodging Association Hospitality Foundation (CHLAHF) revealed that 97 students from 21 colleges and universities in California have been awarded a total of $170,000 in scholarships. These students are pursuing degrees in hotel management, tourism, and culinary arts.

The CHLAHF is dedicated to supporting the education and professional development of students who are committed to a career in the hospitality industry. This year, the Foundation received a record number of applicants and was able to provide scholarships to 35 more students than the previous year.

Michael Pace, Chair of CHLAHF and General Manager of the InterContinental Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco, expressed his excitement about the scholarship program. He believes that these students have the potential to shape the future of the hospitality industry with their bold and innovative ideas. The scholarship program not only provides financial support but also inspires and encourages these future leaders to continue pursuing their passion for hospitality.

The recipients of these scholarships will be honored at the 2025 Scholarship Awards Gala on October 23, 2025, at The Argonaut Hotel in San Francisco. The CHLAHF invites all hospitality professionals to join them in supporting these current and future scholarship recipients.

Among this year's scholarship recipients, San Diego State University has the highest number with 32 students receiving scholarships. Other schools with a significant number of recipients include California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (14), California State University, Monterey Bay (12), California State University, Long Beach (10), and University of San Francisco (5).

The CHLAHF would like to extend their gratitude to hotel brands such as Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Marriott, Handlery Hotels, and others for their continued support over the past 15 years. Their contributions have made it possible for many students to pursue their dreams in the hospitality industry.
