Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services (Health Department) has announced the launch of its second year of the Parent Informational Workshop series in partnership with the Long Beach Public Library (LBPL). This initiative aims to provide parents and caregivers of children from infancy through 8 years old with valuable information on topics such as early childhood mental health, special education, and early start intervention.

According to Mayor Rex Richardson, these workshops are part of the city's ongoing commitment to supporting the development and well-being of Long Beach's young residents. "We're excited to offer families more opportunities to learn, connect, and grow together through our Parent Informational Workshop series," he stated.

The workshops will be taught by local experts who specialize in various fields of early childhood. They will also serve as a platform for families to connect with resources that can assist them in addressing any developmental concerns they may have about their child. Interested attendees are welcome to attend multiple workshops, and no registration is required.

The schedule for the workshops is as follows:

These workshops are also part of LBPL's Dive into Learning program, an early learning initiative that promotes school readiness and parent education for children ages 0 to 5 by incentivizing reading. "At the Long Beach Public Library, we believe that learning begins long before a child starts school and that parents and caregivers are a child's first and most important teachers," said Cathy De Leon, Director of Long Beach Public Library. "We're proud to partner with the Health Department to offer these workshops as part of our Dive into Learning initiative and help connect families to trusted resources, expert guidance, and each other."

To participate in the LBPL reading programs, the public can sign up by visiting longbeach.beanstack.org or downloading the Beanstack Tracker app from the App Store or Google Play.

Funding for these workshops is made possible by LBPL's Dive into Learning program and the Early Childhood Mental Health grant from the California Department of Health Care Services as part of the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative. This partnership highlights the city's dedication to providing accessible resources for families in need.
