~ Sacramento, California - In response to the ongoing disasters in Texas, Oregon, and New Mexico, Governor Gavin Newsom has announced that California will be deploying additional emergency resources to assist in disaster response efforts.

The state of California has a long-standing tradition of answering calls for assistance from other states during times of crisis. Governor Newsom emphasized the importance of helping fellow Americans in need, stating that "our state's highly trained first responders are answering the call to serve communities in need."

The deployments include Urban Search and Rescue teams, firefighter strike teams, and specialized incident support personnel. These resources will be assisting with a range of disasters, from deadly flooding in Texas to severe wildfires in Oregon and flooding in New Mexico.

In Texas, 9 FEMA Incident Support Team personnel have been deployed alongside equipment and supplies to help local and federal agencies manage the impacts of ongoing severe flooding. Additionally, 18 personnel from California local agencies have been mobilized as part of a second wave of canine search and recovery teams.

Governor Newsom also reassured Californians that resources will remain available to respond to emergencies at home, including the state's own heightened wildfire risk during the summer season.

This deployment is just one of many efforts by California to aid other states during emergencies. In recent years, California has deployed resources to Hawaii, Montana, Florida, and Oregon for various disasters.

In addition to disaster response efforts, Acting Governor Eleni Kounalakis has also proclaimed July 2025 as Disability Pride Month in California. And Governor Newsom has announced $35 million in funding for law enforcement partners, local governments, and community groups tackling impaired driving.

As wildfires continue to intensify across the Pacific Northwest, Governor Newsom's deployment of a CAL FIRE strike team to assist firefighting efforts in southern Oregon is a testament to California's commitment to helping those in need.
