~ SACRAMENTO - As California faces multiple hazards threatening the state, Governor Gavin Newsom has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety of its residents. At his direction, the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) has approved the predeployment of various fire and rescue resources.
These resources include 10 fire engines, 10 incident management personnel, two dispatchers, one handcrew, one water tender, one bulldozer, and one unmanned aerial system with operator. They will be strategically predeployed to Nevada County for Critical Fire Weather and Red Flag Warnings, as well as San Bernardino County ahead of heavy localized rainfall and potential mud and debris flows for the Line and Bridge Fire burn scars.
The National Weather Service has issued Flood Watches in Southern California, specifically in portions of San Bernardino, Riverside, and San Diego counties. In response to these warnings, local fire agencies have identified the need for additional resources and have submitted a request to the state for support. The staging locations and response assignments will be coordinated by local officials.

This proactive approach by Governor Newsom ensures that resources are readily available to respond quickly in case of emergencies. It has been a critical component of California's emergency response strategy as it reduces response times and minimizes the potential impact of new fires and other critical incidents. This preposition program is in addition to California's Fire and Rescue Mutual Aid System which remains available for emergency response support throughout the state.
Residents are urged to stay vigilant during this fire and weather event. Governor Newsom reminds Californians to prepare a wildfire action plan which includes planning evacuation routes and packing a go-bag with essentials. It is also important to sign up for local emergency alerts to stay informed about changing conditions. In case of flooded roadways, it is advised to "Turn Around, Don't Drown" as just 12 inches or one foot of water can make a vehicle float.

Furthermore, Governor Newsom has proclaimed today as Native American Day and announced the signing of several bills that support the California Native community. This is part of the state's efforts to advance tribal priorities.
The state is also investing in behavioral health by awarding $127 million in grants for Propositions 36 and 47. This is in addition to the multi-billion dollar investment already made in this area.
Governor Newsom continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of Californians by taking proactive measures and investing in various areas. Residents are reminded to stay informed and prepared during these challenging times.
