Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach Airport (LGB) has recently made significant improvements to its security screening process, making travel even easier for passengers. The addition of a new security screening lane and a more efficient layout have resulted in improved passenger flow and reduced wait times.

According to Mayor Rex Richardson, these enhancements are a testament to the airport's commitment to providing convenience and a first-class traveler experience. He stated, "By making the security queue process more efficient with an improved layout and additional lane, Long Beach Airport is giving travelers time back in their day to better enjoy their journeys."

The number of security screening lanes operated by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at LGB has increased from five to six with the addition of the new lane. The security queue has also been reconfigured in partnership with TSA, ensuring that passengers no longer pass in front of the Ticketing Lobby. This new layout is expected to streamline the screening process and ease congestion during peak travel seasons.

TSA Federal Security Director Jason Pantages expressed his enthusiasm for the new improvements, stating that "this additional screening lane will further streamline operations and improve efficiency for all passengers departing from Long Beach." He also mentioned other recent changes such as the implementation of REAL ID requirements and TSA's Shoes-On policy for standard passengers, all aimed at providing a first-class travel experience while maintaining high-security standards.

Passengers can also take advantage of other time-saving amenities at LGB such as TSA PreCheck® and CLEAR. Airport Director Cynthia Guidry emphasized that these enhancements are part of their ongoing efforts to make the airport experience faster, smoother, and more enjoyable for travelers.

This latest improvement comes at an opportune time as Long Beach prepares to welcome visitors for major events like the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It follows closely after the completion of the Terminal Roadway Improvement Project which aimed at improving vehicular and passenger flow while also adding accessibility features.

Long Beach Airport, ranked the second-best airport in the nation by The Washington Post, is conveniently located between Los Angeles and Orange counties. Its carriers, including Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Southwest Airlines, offer nonstop service to 21 airports nationwide with one-stop connections to nearly 400 cities worldwide. With ongoing improvements like these, LGB continues to solidify its reputation as a top airport destination for travelers.
