Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games have announced the venue assignments for more than a dozen Olympic sports, utilizing various locations in the City of Los Angeles and neighboring cities of Long Beach and Carson. This announcement confirms that Long Beach will host seven Olympic sporting events, making it the second-largest host city after Los Angeles for the LA28 Games.
Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his excitement about this news, stating that "the confirmation of these first seven sporting events to be held in Long Beach further solidifies our status as a premier sports destination and our commitment as a major Venue City for the LA28 Games." He also added that Long Beach is ready to welcome athletes, spectators, and visitors from around the world and showcase its vibrant sports culture and coastal features.
The confirmed venues for Long Beach include Handball at the Arena, Canoe-Sprint and Rowing at Marine Stadium, Sailing along Belmont Shore, Marathon Swimming and Triathlon along Alamitos Beach waterfront, and Water Polo at a temporary aquatics center in the Convention Center lot. The relocation of Rowing and Canoe Sprint from Lake Perris in Riverside County to Marine Stadium was made possible through exceptional arrangements supported by the World Rowing Congress specifically for the LA28 Games. This move will place these athletes at the heart of Long Beach's sport cluster, enhancing their experience as well as that of spectators.

Pending approval from the City of Los Angeles on June 21st, 2024, Long Beach may also host Artistic Swimming and Para Swimming competitions. These venue assignments were approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board after completing Games Agreements with the City of Long Beach.
The LA28's updated Games Plan webpage provides a reference for all confirmed sports and venues announced to date. As per current guidelines, existing corporate or philanthropic names will not be used for stadiums or arenas during the Games.
In addition to these venue assignments, LA28 will announce more in the coming months for the host City of Los Angeles and other Venue Cities like Long Beach. This will include new sports that were added since the original 2017 Bid Plan and the Paralympic venue plan.
The Long Beach City Council's approval of the Venue Use Guarantee in June was a critical step in solidifying the venues for the LA28 Games. This guarantee reaffirms Long Beach's commitment as a Venue City by ensuring that designated venues will be available for all event needs and outlines the terms and conditions for venue usage.
