U.S. Senator Bob Menendez and PBS President Paula Kerger to Deliver Remarks
WASHINGTON - May 9, 2019 - Californer -- On Thursday, May 16th the Latino Leaders Network (LLN), a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing leaders together, will convene its 58th Latino Leaders Luncheon Series event to honor Congressman Ben Ray Luján with the Eagle Leadership Award from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Mayflower Hotel (1127 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington, DC). In addition, the inaugural Rising Star Award will be presented to Alicia Menendez. Senator Bob Menendez and PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger will deliver special guest remarks.
Born and raised in New Mexico, Congressman Ben Ray Luján grew up in Nambé, where he learned the time-honored traditions and values of New Mexico from his family and community. Since being sworn into Congress in 2008, he has worked to create good-paying jobs in New Mexico, increase access to affordable, quality health care, protect New Mexico's natural resources, build a clean energy economy, and restore checks and balances in our government. He is a member of the House Energy & Commerce Committee, sitting on the Health Subcommittee, Consumer Protection & Commerce Subcommittee, and the Communications & Technology Subcommittee. Congressman Luján also represents his diverse district by participating in a variety of Caucuses. Also, Luján is a founding member of the Tech Transfer Caucus, which works to move technological innovations from New Mexico's national labs and universities into the marketplace.
