Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach Airport (LGB) has once again been recognized as one of the top airports in America, ranking second on The Washington Post's list of the 50 Best Airports. This comes as no surprise to travelers who are familiar with LGB's easygoing atmosphere and Southern California vibes.
According to Mayor Rex Richardson, LGB is the preferred gateway to Southern California and offers a first-class experience for travelers. This recognition from The Washington Post only solidifies the important role that LGB will play in welcoming visitors for major events such as the World Cup and 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Washington Post praised LGB for its simplicity and efficiency, noting that it is "simple to navigate and quick to get in and out of." They also highlighted the airport's popular outdoor concourse, which one reader described as their "airport oasis."

As the officially trademarked "America's Coolest Airport™," LGB boasts a modern Ticketing Lobby and Baggage Claim facility, a newly renovated 1941 Historic Terminal, live music performances by local artists, and recently completed Terminal Roadway Improvements. These improvements have resulted in a more convenient main pick-up and drop-off area for passengers.
Airport Director Cynthia Guidry expressed her gratitude for The Washington Post's recognition, stating that it is a compliment to all of their business partners and staff who work hard to deliver an exceptional passenger experience. This is not the first time LGB has received accolades, as it was also named among the Top 10 airports in the country by Condé Nast Traveler magazine in 2023 and 2024.
In addition to its convenient location between Los Angeles and Orange counties, LGB offers nonstop service to 21 airports nationwide through its carriers Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Southwest Airlines. With one-stop service to nearly 400 cities around the world, LGB truly lives up to its slogan of "Your Passport to the World."
