~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach has been confirmed as the host for seven Paralympic sporting events for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games, according to an announcement made today by the Los Angeles Organizing Committee for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games (LA28). This milestone marks Long Beach's commitment to inclusion, athletic excellence, and community spirit.
Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his pride and honor in hosting these events, stating that it showcases the city's dedication to promoting diversity and celebrating the talents of Paralympic athletes. He also highlighted Long Beach's beautiful coastal setting as a perfect backdrop for these competitions.
The seven Paralympic sporting events confirmed to take place in Long Beach are Para Climbing, Para Swimming, Shooting Para Sport, Sitting Volleyball, Blind Football, Para Rowing, and Para Canoe-Sprint. Among these events is the debut of Para Climbing, which will be held in the Convention Center Lot alongside Para Swimming. Both events will take place in a temporary outdoor aquatics center with Long Beach's iconic shoreline as a stunning backdrop.
Shooting Para Sport will be held in a purpose-built indoor range within the Convention Center, providing spectators with an up-close view of this precision-based sport. Sitting Volleyball will take place at the nearby Long Beach Arena.

Blind Football will be held at Alamitos Beach, where Olympic Beach Volleyball will also take place. This venue sharing model has been successfully used in previous Games to maximize resources and provide a seamless experience for both athletes and spectators. Additionally, Para Rowing and Para Canoe-Sprint events will be held at Marine Stadium.
With these additions, Long Beach is now set to host a total of 18 sporting events across seven venues for both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This solidifies its position as one of the leading Venue Cities outside of Los Angeles.
The City's involvement in the 2028 Games will not only raise its international profile but also generate significant economic activity and enhance the livability of Long Beach for years to come. The City has been actively preparing for its role as an official Venue City, with the unveiling of a dedicated 2028 Games webpage and a Strategic Roadmap that outlines its responsibilities and plans for the Games.
The 2028 Olympic Games, hosted by the City of Los Angeles, will take place from July 14 to July 30, 2028, followed by the Paralympic Games from August 15 to August 27, 2028. More information about Long Beach's commitment to the LA28 Games can be found on their website at longbeach.gov/2028Games.
