Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - As the summer season approaches, the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) is gearing up to welcome it with a free Summer Kickoff Concert. The event will feature a performance by popular '80s cover band, Radio Royalty, and will take place on Friday, May 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Conductor Larry Curtis Concert Park at Marine Stadium.
Attendees can look forward to dancing and singing along to energetic '80s and contemporary dance hits while enjoying an evening under the stars along the waterfront. Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his excitement for the event, stating that it is an annual tradition that brings the community together and creates joyful memories with family and friends.
The festivities will begin at 5 p.m., with complimentary activities such as face painting and a bounce house for kids to enjoy before the concert. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, and picnic dinners to make the most of their experience. It is advised to arrive early in order to secure parking and find a good spot for the concert.

Third District Councilmember Kristina Duggan also shared her enthusiasm for the Summer Kickoff Concert at Marine Stadium, calling it an exciting way to start another beautiful summer in Long Beach. She invites everyone to come out and enjoy an evening of live music and good times.
In addition to this concert, PRM has planned a variety of other free, family-friendly events throughout the summer season. These include Movies in the Park, performances by the Long Beach Municipal Band in its 117th season, as well as ensembles at El Dorado Nature Center.
Director of Parks, Recreation and Marine Stephen P. Scott expressed pride in offering these spaces and programs that bring the community together during summer. He believes that these events provide opportunities for residents and families to connect, play, and make lasting memories.

Community members are encouraged to browse the summer issue of Recreation Connection, PRM's recreation catalogue, to discover over 700 classes, activities, sports, and leagues for people of all ages, abilities, and interests.
