LoveSetMatch is Featured on Fox11 Good Day LA, Highlighting Free Donation-Based East LA Youth Tennis, USTA Coaching Leadership, and Inspiring Student Stories.
LOS ANGELES - Californer -- LOS ANGELES, CA — LoveSetMatch, a nonprofit providing free donation-based tennis and STEAM-based education programs across Los Angeles County, was featured this week on Fox11 Good Day LA with host Brooke Thomas. Filmed at Belvedere Park in East Los Angeles, the segment shined a spotlight on the power of community tennis through the stories of Coach Phillip "PK" Kim, Coach Candi Valente, and the youth whose lives are being transformed on court.
Among the children featured was Maya, a young LoveSetMatch athlete and pediatric cancer survivor whose strength and determination have inspired the entire community. Maya dreams of being "the next Serena Williams," and her moment on Fox11 served as a joyful reminder of the resilience, hope, and big dreams that come alive on the tennis courts.

"Maya shows up with courage, joy, and the biggest smile," said Phillip Kim, Executive Director of LoveSetMatch. "Every time she steps on the court, she reminds us why free donation-based community programs matter so deeply. Kids deserve spaces where they can believe in themselves—and seeing her on Fox11 was a beautiful celebration of everything she's overcome."
The Fox11 feature also highlighted a major milestone for the organization: Coach PK's selection as the Los Angeles Ambassador for USTA Coaching. In this new ambassador role, Coach PK helps expand access to youth coaching pathways, strengthen community programs, and elevate the USTA's mission to make tennis more inclusive, joyful, and accessible to all.
"It's truly an honor to represent USTA Coaching in Los Angeles," Kim said. "We are building environments where every child—including future champions like Maya—feels welcomed, supported, and excited to grow."
The broadcast placed a meaningful spotlight on women in coaching, featuring Coach Candi Valente, whose leadership is shaping the next generation of athletes. Her segment emphasized how vital female representation is on the court.

"Girls and young women need to see themselves in their coaches," Valente said. "When kids see women leading with strength and care, it opens doors for them to dream bigger. I'm grateful Fox11 highlighted that message."
LoveSetMatch proudly partners with LA County Parks & Recreation, USTA Coaching, USTA SoCal, SCTA Foundation, and the Dwight Stuart Youth Fund to bring free donation-based tennis programs to neighborhoods that historically lack access to affordable youth sports. The Belvedere Park program has become a cornerstone of the East LA community—where children like Maya find friendship, confidence, health, and joy.
The organization invites families, community partners, and supporters to watch the Fox11 feature and join the movement to expand accessible tennis throughout Los Angeles County.
