Announces upcoming show dates for the September 2021 festival
SAN DIEGO - Californer -- Mainly Mozart closed out the 2021 All-Star Orchestra Festival this past weekend at the Del Mar Surf Cup Sports Park, which started on June 11, 2021. This event welcomed the return of in-person, socially distanced, assigned seating in an outdoor venue at 100% capacity.
The eclectic evening program began with Music Director Maestro Michael Francis conducting Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 24, C minor, K. 491 alongside internationally renowned piano soloist George Li. Then closed out the festival with Beethoven's world-famous Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92.
Maestro Michael Francis led talent from the world's leading orchestras, from members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic to the Boston Symphony Orchestra to four of the "Big Five" American orchestras. With five evening concerts featuring members of prestigious orchestras, this festival presented well-known works, ranging from Mozart to Beethoven to J. Haydn to name a few.
"We are excited to announce that we will be returning in September for the next All-Star Festival," said CEO Nancy Laturno. "We will return to the Del Mar Surf Sports Park starting with a performance commemorating the 20thanniversary of 9/11, with tributes to the first responders, those who had served and those who lost their lives or lost a loved one 20 years ago to the date. The opening night show will be done in collaboration with the National Conflict Resolution Center."
