WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Californer -- West Hollywood, CA – Actress, filmmaker, and comedian Mia Moore Marchant joins the cast of the trans-led horror feature "The Girls", secured for a leading role as "Dahlia".
Marchant stated, "I'm just stoked to make trans art... made by trans people. Let's make up for all of the films that we never got to make, because we weren't allowed inside the studio system. A revenge film... a slasher that feels like it could've been right out of the 70s or 80s is right up my alley."
Director Krista Michaels expressed her excitement about Marchant joining the cast, stating, "I am thrilled to have Mia aboard the project. I had her in mind early on in the writing process, and this was a collaboration that almost didn't line up, as we were just beginning to promote and cast The Girls just as Mia was directing her film, Again Again. I'm so glad that things ultimately worked out, because Mia is super talented, has great ideas, and I know that she will be an absolute joy to work with. I can't wait!"
Having just wrapped production on her first feature film, Again Again, Marchant is also set to star in the upcoming queer time travel film, which she wrote, co-directed, and produced.

"The Girls," directed by Krista Michaels and co-written by Michaels, Brandy Bryant, and Jessica D'Amelio, promises to be a groundbreaking project that pushes boundaries within the genre. It is to be inspired by the exploitation films of the 70s and 80s, featuring an all trans women leading cast.
"The Girls" aims to address the trials, tribulations, and bigotry faced by individuals from the transgender community while showcasing their resilience. The film has already secured Cerebella Doefire as Luna, MMA fighter Alana McLaughlin as Ash, and Ryder Avalon as Pixie; the team promises other casting announcements soon. Joining as producers are Blair Hawkins, Alice Wells and Claudia Charriez. Steven Grooby, Founder & CEO of Grooby Productions, also serves as the Executive Producer.
BAFTA-nominated composer Simon Boswell (The Crying Game, Santa Sangre) is also attached for the original film score, with Adam Dougherty of KreatureKid set to take the lead on the practical special effects makeup and creature fx.
