BUENA PARK, Calif. - Californer -- Professional indoor football player, Daveon Howard, partners with the Friends of Long Beach Animals (FOLBA) animal shelter. At this event, they provided free vaccinations, microchipping and flea medication by appointment. They also had a section where they handed out goody bags and other resources.

Daveon Howard recently received a contract to play in the Indoor Football League with the Orlando Predators. Howard will be moving to Florida in May to live out his dream of playing professionally. Before he leaves the town he has called home for so long, he wants to give back any way he can.

"I really enjoyed being around all of the cats and dogs," said Howard. "I have always loved animals so this was a great way to give back to my community. Everyone at the event was so friendly and helpful, I cannot wait to go back again!"

FOLBA continues to do everything they can to reduce the number of shelter animals they receive each year. They are dedicated to all animals of Long Beach, CA and have a mission to find a home for each and every animal in the shelter. Daveon Howard is extremely thankful he got the opportunity to help out the pet owners of his community and will hopefully be back next year.
