LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. - Californer -- Exonerated Orange County Police Officer Launches Caregiver Consulting Company
- Rock Wagner desires to ensure no one gets falsely accused of elder abuse-
Laguna Beach, Calif. (December 27, 2022) – Rock Wagner, a retired Laguna Beach police officer, announced today the launch of his company to prevent others from being falsely accused of the same crimes he faced while caring for his elderly parents.
Caregivers Advocacy Partners, a consulting firm, ensures that others will avoid the same pitfalls and chaos Wagner endured while looking after his aging, dependent and ill parents. Wagner, along with his sister, Wendy, and her boyfriend, James McBride, both of Huntington Beach, settled a 2018 lawsuit last year in Orange County Superior Court as Plaintiffs alleging false arrest, defamation, and wrongful death after both parents died.
Fullerton Police wrongfully arrested the three in late 2017 on suspicion of elder abuse, but the Orange County District Attorney's Office declined any charges and filed no case due to the fact that no crimes had been committed. As part of the settlement, Wagner was also granted a court-ordered certificate which proclaimed his factual innocence under Penal Code 851.8, which specifies that only those determined to have committed no crime qualify to be granted this certificate of innocence.

"My mission with this new venture is twofold - I want my unique, true story to be told and shared in order to bring awareness, exposure and truth to the major challenges and real adversities that are combined with the well-intended care of elders. My goal is to become a voice in the community and connect with the many who have endured similar caregiving situations."
"Through Caregivers Advocacy Partners, I apply my extensive professional and personal background to assist families while navigating the arduous process of caring for their loved one to ensure no one has to endure the years-long pain and unnecessary chaos that I did. For example, we help clients to locate the right financial, legal, and medical services for aging parents and guide them through a confusing and complex process."
Wagner desires to help streamline this process for families by providing options and connecting them with qualified advisors and services at the right time. Doing so will help reduce the expenses, the adversities and the stress of caring for a loved one while maximizing the quality of life for those needing support as they age. "Not knowing who to turn to, or worse yet, putting trust in the wrong people can be detrimental," said Wagner. "I want to make it easier for families facing this all-too-common situation. It's my new life's work."
