San Jose: Notice of Availability of a Draft SEIR for the South Fourth Street Project

~ The City of San José is proposing the South Fourth Street Project, which would demolish existing buildings and construct a 25-story residential building with 210 residential units. The project site is located at 439 South Fourth Street, on the west side of South Fourth Street, approximately 170 feet south of East San Salvador Street. The proposed building would be up to 246 feet to the rooftop and 261 feet to the top of the parapet.

The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requires that a Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) be made available for public review and comment. The Draft SEIR and documents referenced in it are available online at www.sanjoseca.gov/activeeirs and at two locations: Department of Planning, Building and Code Enforcement at 150 East San Fernando Street, San José, CA 95112; and Dr. MLK Jr. Main Library at 200 East Santa Clara Street, 3rd Floor, San José, CA 95113.

The public review period for this Draft SEIR begins on Wednesday, May 30th 2023 and ends on Friday July 14th 2023. Written comments must be received by 5:00 p.m. on July 14th in order to be addressed as part of the formal EIR review process. Comments can be sent to Reema Mahamood, Environmental Project Manager in the Department of Planning, Building and Code Enforcement via email at Reema.Mahamood@sanjoseca.gov or by regular mail at the mailing address listed for the Department of Planning, Building and Code Enforcement (send to the attention of Reema Mahamood). For the official record please reference File No H17-004 when submitting comments or questions about this project.

Following the close of the public review period, a Final SEIR will be prepared that will include responses to comments received during this period from members of the public who have commented in writing on it during this time frame. At least ten days prior to a public hearing on this SEIR being held by City officials all responses to comments received during this period will be made available for review by those who have commented in writing on it during this time frame as well as being posted online for all members of the public to view if they wish to do so before attending said hearing should they choose too do so..
