As summarized by the Security Industry Association, Senate Bill 1384, signed by California Governor Gavin Newsom on September 30, 2022, created new requirements for licensed firearms dealers to maintain a digital video surveillance system on their premises which must also include audio surveillance for systems located indoors.
The newly required digital surveillance systems must record all entries and exits to the building, all areas where firearms are displayed, and all points of sale.
Surveillance must be sufficient to identify all parties involved in any firearm transactions and must record for 24 hours per day.
Licensed firearms dealers will be required to display a sign notifying the public of the existence of the digital surveillance systems as well as annually report to the California Department of Justice that the systems are in working order.
Triton Global Services, with headquarters in Ontario, CA is coordinating with its offices in Hayward and Sacramento to continue to reach out to local licensed firearm dealers to educate and assist with compliance requirements prior to the upcoming deadline.
