Chino Hills (Calif.)-Based Pro Development Club Joins UPSL for Fall Season
LOS ANGELES - May 14, 2019 - Californer -- The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce Footballer's Academy for Developmental Players (FADP) as a new league member kicking off with the 2019 Fall Season.
Based in Chino Hills (Calif.), FADP will play in the UPSL Championship Western Conference SoCal Division. The club is finalizing its venue options in compliance with UPSL Minimum Standards.
United Premier Soccer League National Director Matt Kahla said, "'Footballer's Academy' has been one of the top clubs in the SoCal Premier League for several seasons, and it's a tremendous statement that they're now playing in UPSL Championship SoCal Division. President Diego Ruiz has re-built the club and they're ready to step up to the next level and compete against SoCal's best Pro Development teams. We wish FADP the best as it embarks upon its inaugural UPSL campaign."
Diego Ruiz is the President of FADP. A native of Colombia, Ruiz, 50, has operated the club at the local amateur level, competing in the SoCal Premier League since 2014.
FADP President Diego Ruiz said, "Now that the club has its first team in the UPSL, the plan is to build a youth academy to back that team up, and so players can have choices when they're out of high school and college. I want to bolster the team and back it up so that players can have soccer careers. That's what I want because for most of the kids if they don't get accepted somewhere out of high school that's pretty much it for them as players. The UPSL is making it easier but we're not that far from a time when if you didn't know about local leagues then you weren't going to play. The UPSL is having an impact."
