OXNARD, Calif. - Californer -- "I want listeners to know this is what hip-hop sounds like when you get two cats from the opposite sides of the country that come together and make shit happen for the love of the culture."—Body Bag Ben on his new EP with Rick Hyde, Hyde the Body Bag
Hyde the Body Bag is the raw, no-holds-barred new EP from Body Bag Ben and Rick Hyde, like-minded hip-hop artists who hail from Oxnard, CA and Buffalo, NY, respectively. And through a mutual friend—and respect for one another's music—the two connected while Rick was on a trip to the West Coast. In no time, they had set up a home studio at a friend's house and started recording what would end up being the five tracks you hear on HTTB.
It all started with lead single "Voodoo," a snarling track that embodies the feel of the entire EP. There's the chilling production from BBB as well as the unrelenting rhymes from both him and Rick. But there's a certain energy running through it, too; one that you'll no doubt pick up on listening to HTTB. From opener "Skywalker OG Freestyle," which features frequent guest GoToMar$—to the bruising closer "Make Amends," you can hear their passion for creating art on their terms.

"Me and Ben went crazy on this tape and the results should show," Rick said, adding that he admires BBB's "vocabulary and delivery." Likewise, BBB was hype to record in-person with his collaborator, given that so often he just receives stems to work with on his own. "I think that energy comes out when you listen to the project for sure," BBB added.
That energy is indeed palpable when listening to HTTB, and the same goes for their clear talents with the pen—and behind the boards, thanks to BBB's immaculate production. Hyde the Body Bag is available now through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms.
Tracklist:
01. Skywalker OG Freestyle (feat. GoToMar$)
02. Voodoo
03. Hyde the Body Bag (feat. GoToMar$)
04. Maake Amends
05. Tiger Blood (feat. Mark 4ord, Kali Problems, GoToMar$)
