SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Kristina Lawson, Hanson Bridgett's managing partner-elect, has been selected as the next President of the Medical Board of California. This state board oversees the licensing and regulation of physicians, surgeons, and certain allied healthcare professionals in California, and promotes access to quality medical care.
Lawson was initially appointed to the board in 2015 by Governor Jerry Brown. As President of the Medical Board of California, she will take on additional legislative advocacy responsibilities and be the board's public face during her term.
"My father was a physician, and I was appointed to the board by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. shortly after my father's sudden passing. So, it is really an honor for me to be able to lead the Board," Lawson shared. "I know that now, more than ever before, it is important to further the Board's mission to protect California's health care consumers during the midst of a global pandemic. I am grateful and humbled to be trusted with that responsibility."
