"The Blossom Award" Custom Award Created for TWDP's 3rd Annual Empowerment Experience
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Californer -- Bennett Awards had the honor of collaborating with The White Dress Project (TWDP), a Georgia-based non-profit organization dedicated to supporting research, raising awareness, and providing resources for those affected by uterine fibroids. We created a custom, artistic award to help celebrate and acknowledge the TWDP community of staff, supporters, and women whose personal journeys with fibroids inspire hope.
An Award That Shines a Light on Uterine Fibroids
Uterine fibroids are an often-overlooked health condition that affect an astounding 90% of African-American women and 70% of white women before the age of 50. Despite the widespread nature of fibroids, awareness and understanding of the condition remain limited, with misinformation and a lack of dialogue surrounding it. Historically, women's health concerns—particularly those of women of color—have been dismissed, contributing to the shame, stigma, and silence surrounding fibroids. The White Dress Project is addressing this issue head-on, advocating for improved support, resources, and research, while empowering women to share their experiences.

A Symbol of Hope and Grace
The White Dress Project chose the white dress as a symbol of hope, grace, and strength for women who experience the painful symptoms of uterine fibroids, including heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, bloating, and fertility challenges. This garment represents a symbol of resilience for female bodies that bleed and suffer in a society that often marginalizes women's health issues. TWDP's logo incorporates this symbol, and it inspired the design of the custom award Bennett Awards created.
The award, crafted from semi-opaque white glass, features a cutout of the white dress, allowing light to shine through, symbolizing the strength and beauty of the women TWDP represents. This thoughtful material choice allows the organization to stay within budget while maintaining a sophisticated aesthetic.
Awards to Empower Blossoming Legacies
The custom Blossom Awards were presented at the Night in White Gala, a key event in TWDP's 3rd Annual Empowerment Experience. The awards were given to medical professionals, patient advocates, and others who have made significant contributions to the fibroid community, including actor Corinne Foxx, who received the Voice For Change Blossom Award. The recipients proudly wore their white dresses while holding the sculptural white dress awards, creating a powerful visual reminder of the mission that unites them.
