HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Californer -- On the heels of the live broadcast premiere of the short film entitled: Haile Selassie I, Man of Right which debuted on the emperor's one hundredth and thirtieth birthday celebration held July 23rd, 2022, comes the long-awaited release of the featured film's leading track "Documentary."
The song is a staunch reminder of the legacy and culture that Haile Selassie I and his Rastafarian followers have given to the world. Rasta, a movement with a rich, indigenous, cultural, pan-African, prophetical, historical, religious, natural and metaphysical viewpoint has always enjoyed the luxury of having musicians, poets and players of instruments serve as messengers of the faith.
The single begins with a Pharaoh like request to "overstand (understand) the knowledge and gain wisdom," followed by the emphatic assertion that "Haile Selassie I we say; thou many more names out there." Written and produced by Gregory Kellman, the hard hitting and melodic "Documentary" riddim gives the feature film a modern, urban, poetic, yet grass roots feel.
