A Luxury Hotel 2 hours North of Tokyo's Asakusa Station, along the Tobu Railway Line
NIKKO, Japan - Californer -- Tobu Railway Group announces the opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko on May 22, 2020. Located in Nikko, Japan, just two hours north of Tokyo's Asakusa Station, along the Tobu Railway Line, the hotel will be situated along magnificent Lake Chuzenji, Japan's highest altitude lake, with spectacular lake-front views. It will be the first Ritz-Carlton to feature luxuriating hot spring baths, invigorating guests with Japan's ultimate relaxation hospitality.
The hotel is designed as luxury residence blending with the natural environs. It will be a modern, luxury resort with a unique flair, incorporating traditional Japanese craftsmanship, reflecting the culture and natural beauty of Oku-Nikko – deep, wilderness Nikko. For more than a century, this area has been renowned as a place to cool off from the heat and humidity of summer in Tokyo.
The communal baths, including a rotenburo or outdoor bath, will be filled with the natural mineral waters from the area hot springs that offer therapeutic benefits to the muscles and skin. Views of Mt. Nantai, Nikko's most prominent peak and the Kegon Falls, one of Japan's tallest waterfalls are within walking distance and hiking trails abound. With all this, guests will have a truly memorable experience replete with natural beauty, culture and history.

■ Luxury Area Divided into Three Zones After passing through the arrival lobby, guests can enter the hotel's three different luxury areas. The Lobby Lounge, which is well lit with natural light is designed with warm wooden features and a nod to the history of Nikko. The Library includes large tables made from walnut trees and sofas, providing a relaxing space for reading at any time of day. The Bar offers whiskeys carefully selected from Japan and further afield as well as original cocktails. The lounge and surrounding area include a collection of around 20 precious artworks that have stood the test of time, with the Japanese spirit of these pieces complementing the view of the changing seasons from the hotel's windows.

A hiking tour to Lake Yunoko, Yudaki Falls and the hot springs of Oku-Nikko that supply the hotel is also on offer.
