A Professional Webinar with state leaders discussing the nation's largest infrastructure project – the California High Speed Rail system and the development of major rail stations along the route, along with the many economic benefits it will bring to the state.
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. & SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Californer -- The US High Speed Rail Association is honored to host the fourth high-speed rail webinar in its professional webinar series: California High Speed Rail Station Planning on Tuesday August 18, 2020, 10a PDT/1pm EDT.
This webinar will focus on the design, development and progress of California High Speed Rail stations along the new fast rail line connecting the state. Station design and location will be discussed as well as leveraging their value to develop new walkable, affordable communities around the stations. California's rail project is creating thousands of jobs while providing a new high capacity form of transportation that will unite the state increasing access to jobs, affordable housing options, intra-state collaboration, tourism and multi-modal transportation.

Margaret Cederoth, Director of Planning & Sustainability, California High Speed Rail Authority will discuss her role as Governor Newsom's 2019 appointee to oversee the plan for what will be the leading example of how high-speed rail is designed and executed in the nation. She will share their concepts and process that will shape the design of twenty-five new stations to be built in California. The Authority's strategy will be focusing on access, location, sustainability, and keeping the state moving into the 21st century.
Jacqui Kitchen, Assistant City Manager, City of Bakersfield will discuss the beneficial catalytic effects a new high speed rail station will have on the city, and the many things they are doing to fully leverage the value creation from the new station.
Randy Volenec, Principal Partner, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects will discuss his work as project architect for the first new high speed rail station in California - the Salesforce Transit Center (San Francisco, CA). Randy will discuss the complexities of the massive new transit station and building it in the center of a major downtown area.
