New system reduces response times and improves resource tracking and accountability -- links to other CAL FIRE units
SAN DIEGO - Californer -- RadioMobile, Inc., a provider of mobile data communications technology to Fire and EMS, announced that the CAL FIRE San Benito-Monterey Unit (CAL FIRE BEU) has chosen to deploy RadioMobile's mobile data communications system in the cooperative agencies that comprise the unit. The new system will allow the agencies to share critical incident information such as resource location and status with each other as well as with other agencies involved in the emergency response.
"We have already noticed a 30-second improvement in response times during the testing phase of this project, which is huge," said Josh Silveira, Battalion Chief. "RadioMobile's integrated system will provide us with the technology needed to respond faster, stay informed and provide the best possible outcomes to the communities we serve while also keeping our firefighters safe. Plus, we are able to leverage the CAL FIRE system built by RadioMobile to improve operations at a lower cost than would have otherwise been possible."

CAL FIRE BEU provides wildland protection services for the counties of San Benito and Monterey, California. The BEU is comprised of six agencies including the Pebble Beach Community Services District, Cypress Fire Protection District (FPD), Carmel Highlands FPD, Aromas Tri-County FPD, Soledad Fire Department, and the South Monterey County FPD. The CAL FIRE BEU solution includes the IQ Mobile Lite Server, located in the Monterey Emergency Communications Center, which provides an IP interface to the CAD and relays dispatch messages and status updates between the CAD and the responding units. Each mobile unit is equipped with a tablet running RadioMobile's IQ Mobile Tablet software. Future plans call for expanding the system to include satellite connectivity keeping everyone connected and accounted for regardless of their location.
"We are happy to have these agencies within the CAL FIRE BEU join our family of fire & EMS clients," says Jim Moore, CEO at RadioMobile. "By utilizing RadioMobile, they are able to leverage the AVL system we built for CAL FIRE for faster response and even greater collaboration with other CAL FIRE agencies."
