Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach Public Health Physician Dr. Cliff Okada has issued a rain advisory for recreational beaches and bays in the City of Long Beach. The advisory comes after the city experienced heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours.

According to Dr. Okada, the rain could lead to unhealthy conditions at the city's beaches due to increased runoff from storm drain outlets and rivers. This runoff eventually reaches the beaches, making them unsafe for recreational activities.

As a precautionary measure, Dr. Okada advises that recreational swimming areas should be avoided for at least three days following the end of a rainstorm. The advisory may be extended if the rain continues.
